Boutique hotel with rich history
Lovran was first mentioned in the 7th century as Lauriana and became a popular winter spa resort amongst European aristocrats at the turn of 19th and 20th century due to its mild Mediterranean climate and healthy sea air. With its churches, medieval frescoes, Glagolitic inscriptions, narrow paved streets, stone houses and old villas, Lovran can claim to be one of the best preserved old towns in the whole Adriatic area.
Did you know?
Lovran received its name from laurel (Laurus nobilis), the Mediterranean shrub or small tree. Its leaves are commonly used in the culinary world as well as in alternative health remedies as it is full of antioxidants, but its true stardome comes from the ancient Greece and Rome.
Laurel leaves were used to make wreaths that were worn on a person’s head to symbolize victory, also seen on Caesar and his statues. It was also a symbol of Greek god Apollo and therefore symbolises victory, honor and peace.
